Good News for English People

Good News in a world of Bad News

TO APPRECIATE THE GOOD NEWS

WE MUST UNDERSTAND THE BAD NEWS

Not all that long ago, people didn’t know much about the world around them; but now, thanks to advanced communication, we can learn what’s happening soon after it happens. Unfortunately, there is much bad news –– air and water pollution, floods, terrorist attacks, thefts, famines, diseases, etc. We can all add things to this list; and many can relate with much pain, suffering, and gut-wrenching heartache. So why is the world like this? In order to understand, we need to look back in history. In the beginning,

God created the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) perfect ––without sin. God created everything beautiful for mankind, and gave them one command:

“AND THE LORD GOD COMMANDED THE MAN, SAYING, Of every tree of the garden thou [you] mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die [spiritual separation from God and physical death].” Genesis 2:16,17

They soon broke that commandment, and ate some of the forbidden fruit. Because of this first sin, from their first child, down through history mankind has been born with a sin-nature.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him [God] a liar, and His word is not in us.” 1 John 1:8,10.

So, what is sin? It is the transgression of God’s law.
“For whosoever [whoever] shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10

Sin includes things like: evil thoughts, words, purposes, and adultery, fornication, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, envy, murder, drunkenness, etc.

This puts mankind in a real predicament; because God is holy and righteous; and His penalty for sin, no matter how big or small, is to spend eternity (time without end) in hell. “Death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

AND WHOSOEVER WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WAS CAST [THROWN] INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. AND SHALL BE TORMENTED DAY AND NIGHT FOR EVER AND EVER.” Revelations 20:14,15,10b "Except ye [you] repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3b

REPENTANCE is not only being sorry and feeling remorse for our sinful lives, but it is to hate sin and turn away from it, making a complete change of the basic motivation and direction of our life, and to accept our total dependence on God.

You and I can never be good enough to receive God's forgiveness. But Jesus said,
"With men this is impossible; BUT WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE." Matthew 19:26

An angel told a young lady named Mary, that she would give birth to a child.
“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man [she was a virgin]? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee [you], and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing [Holy One] which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."Luke 1:34,35

“His mother Mary was espoused [promised in marriage] to Joseph, before they came together [sexual relations] she was found with child [by the power]of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 1:18

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David SAVIOUR WHICH IS CHRIST THE LORD."

Jesus, at age 33, was nailed (hands and feet) to a cross, and hung to die a slow, excruciatingly painful death; to pay in full for the sins of all who will ask Him for forgiveness, and to be their personal Saviour and Lord.
“Be it known unto you therefore that through this Man [Jesus Christ] is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by Him all that believe are justified [forgiven and cleared from guilt] from all things.” Acts 13:38,39b

We must ask Jesus Christ to come into our life, and be our personal Saviour and Lord (which He does by the Holy Spirit).
“Therefore if any man [mankind] be in Christ, he is a new creature [creation]: old things are passed away; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

He gives us hope, and a new beginning in life to live for His honor and glory.
“I [Jesus] say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:3b,6.

“FOR BY GRACE are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest [for fear that] any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

Jesus said,
“I AM the WAY,the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none [no] other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; THAT YE MAY KNOW THAT YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD.” 1 John 5:13 “He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath [anger] of God abideth on him.” John 3:36 b

“Christ both died, and rose [alive from the grave three days later] that He might be Lord both of the dead and the living.” Romans 14:9

Dear Reader, I would like to leave you with one question. Where would you be now if you had been killed in an earthquake –– in Heaven or in Hell?

It will be one or the other when you die, there is no neutral place.
“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

Jesus is the only One who can save you for eternity [time without end], and give you real inner peace and hope in this world of bad news . . . it really is “GOOD NEWS”.

If from a sincere heart you have asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and be your personal Saviour and Lord, it is now very important that you fellowship with a Bible-believing and preaching church that can teach you from the Bible and help you to grow in YOUR NEW LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST.
